Expertise in felling trees, use of chainsaws and hand saws, climbing trees using rope or spurs—Clay is self-motivated, hard working, dependable, driven and organized.

Clay started Sawyer Tree Management services to bring his years of forestry and 6 years Hotshot firefighting experience to the residents of Tuolumne and Calaveras counties.

He received his contractors license C61/D49 Tree Service in 2018, and is skilled in different climbing techniques involving static rope systems, double rope technique and climbing using spurs and flipline. Further he is experienced in technical rigging for tree removal, involving positive and negative blocking, zip line line method and vertical line system. Knowledge in proper pruning and trimming help with aesthetics and overall tree health.

Clay is competent working with trees around power and utility lines as well as trees over structures, fences, sensitive areas such as landscaping and septic systems and other obstacles. Knowledge in tree identification and evaluating conditions for overall tree health or removal combine with 10 years experience in tree felling in both live and dead trees.  He is competent at removing tree hangups and other technical tree snags involving beetle kill trees and fire scorched trees.
